Jean Paul Gaultier himself |
In the
early seventies Jean Paul Gaultier began his career as an’ enfant terrible’ of
the fashion world and developed himself as a major couturier. I visited the
expo in the Kunstal in Rotterdam, together with Eline (and many others too…!).
at first sight it looks like an animal skin, but up close it turns out to be thousands of beads! |
Incredible
what that man has designed and made. We were astonished by all his creations and
looked at them from very close to study all the details. Such endless fantasy
and inventiveness, technical wonders and unthinkable combinations are combined
in all his creations. No wonder we were already inspired way back in our
fashionschool-period.
I just love the combinations of all the folklore |
The
figurines that wore the designs were also very special: the faces came alive
with moving projections, as if they came alive and would walk away that
instant. (I would love to show this in a movie, but I haven’t figured out yet
how that works…). Room after room were filled with his creations and designs,
combined with movies and photo’s of all the plays and motionpictures were he
contributed his designs to. A beautiful homage for this special designer.
Nakedness or garbage bag...you can find inspiration everywhere...! |
